Innovis Aberdale
The Aberdale is based on British Texel breeding but carrying the naturally occurring Inverdale™ prolificacy gene; originally discovered in a flock in the South Island and which is now extensively used throughout New Zealand.
The Aberdale nucleus flock utilises the very best UK Texel bloodlines and undergoes rigorous selection year on year to produce a flock that is prolific (achieving a lambing percentage of 180%) without autumn flushing and which lambs outdoors.
The Aberdale nucleus flock is fully performance recorded with breeding objectives focused to complement the producer flocks that are contracted to produce the Aberdale crossbred ewe lambs.
- Emphasis on maternal attributes
- Entire flock foot scored annually to select against lameness.
- Faecal egg counts measured at 21 weeks of age to breed for resistance to roundworms.
- Lambs measured for growth rate
- Ultrasonically scanned at 21 weeks
- A proportion of lambs sent for whole body CT scanning
- 100 elite ewes flushed by embryo transfer each year to fast track the very best bloodlines.
We have had excellent feedback on the performance of Aberdale rams that are supplied to our producers on contract.
