Innovis nucleus breeding programme: Underpinning with excellence
We select the very best UK bloodlines for our Innovis sheep breeding programmes, balancing extensive performance records with structural soundness and commercially significant visual traits such as good skins.
Many of the traditional stockmen based their selection criteria on reasoning borne from experience and we aim to marry this with modern sheep breeding technology.
Our nucleus flocks are fully performance recorded with breeding objectives focused to complement the flocks that are contracted to produce either the Aberdale or Aberfield crossbred ewe lambs. We use our own armoury of Innovis breeding services to accelerate progress in traits that are essential to deliver the breeding objectives within the nucleus flocks.
By supplying one of our two selection lines of female crossing sires, the Aberdale and the Aberfield, to particular producer flocks we are able to create an exceptional crossbred ewe which will suit our commercial client’s particular farming system.
We do the hard work so that our producers and commercial clients can benefit from the very best genetics in their flocks.
