Buckminster Farms Ltd are a large and well-resourced farming business on the Lincolnshire/Leicestershire border.
As part of their sustainable farming system, they have introduced sheep into their arable system integrating this with countryside stewardship to enable extensive grazing of cover crops and herbal leys.
Buckminster Farms Ltd are seeking a responsible Head Shepherd to assist the farming team with the day-to-day management of their 2000 ewe flock based on Aberfield genetics, lambing outside in an extensive production system.
The candidate must have:
- extensive shepherd experience and excellent attention to detail with the highest level of animal husbandry.
- experience of rotational grazing, managing multi-species cover crops and grassland management.
- confidence of moving large numbers of sheep with dogs
- strong health and safety culture.
