About the Hartley Family…

Hello and welcome to the first on-farm production sale on behalf of the Hartley family along with a selection of breeding rams from Innovis Breeding Sheep.

The farm is situated in the shadow of Pendle Hill being an all grassland farm ranging from 500ft to 1200ft above sea level. We are running a closed flock on a forage only system lambing all outside from the 15th April. The sheep comprise of 850 ewes, 150 ewe lambs, which are tupped, and 150 ewe lambs which are kept dry, as well as a small flock of pedigree Blue Texels and the herd of British Blue cattle.

The main focus on the sheep enterprise is to breed a 65-70kg ewe that will lamb outside at the end of April/May and rear its lambs solely of grass.

This has been achieved by using Innovis and Logie Durno genetics and harsh selection on mothering ability milk productivity and feet have been key links in to producing what we have on sale today.

Many thanks for coming.

The Hartley Family
